NATO, Russia's Withdrawal from CFE Treaty
NATO's statement regarding the issue stated that Russia has not adhered to its obligations due to the agreement for many years.
The statement included the expressions "Russia's decision to withdraw from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) is the latest in a series of actions that systematically undermine European-Atlantic security."
The statement, which stated that "We have repeatedly called on Russia to comply with the agreement", said, "Russia did not constructively intervene and take steps towards full compliance. Allies call on Russia to fulfill its commitments and obligations and to use the remaining time before its withdrawal to reconsider its decision."
The statement reiterated the allies' commitment to conventional arms control, stating that "Allies will continue to consult on the consequences of Russia's withdrawal from the CFE Treaty and its impact on the Alliance's security."
The CFE treaty, which imposes limitations on the conventional forces of the parties, was signed in Paris between NATO and the Soviet Union in 1990. (İLKHA)
