Malatya Ticaret ve Sanayi Odası Başkanı Oğuzhan Ata Sadıkoğlu, depremin etkisiyle Malatya’nın ihracatında başlayan düşüşün Mayıs ayı itibariyle yükselişe geçtiğini söyledi.

The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) has announced its export figures for May.

According to TİM data, Malatya has achieved an export of $31,169,000 in May 2023, an increase of 12% compared to the previous month.

It was also observed that the May exports increased by 4% compared to May 2022.

"Promising for our city and our country"

Oğuzhan Ata Sadi̇koğlu, the head of Malatya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MTSO), stated that the decline in Malatya's exports, which started due to the earthquake, has turned into an upward trend as of May, "The fact that our exports, which have been declining since the earthquake disaster we experienced on February 6th, are recovering is promising for our city and our country. Despite all the difficulties, I congratulate our members and veteran employees who continue to produce for their homeland and country with all their hearts and souls."

"We will continue to produce, export, and provide employment under any circumstances"

Stressing the need for new incentives to support exports, Sadıkoğlu said, "The fact that our declining exports have increased with May gave us some hope. The recession in the global markets continues to affect the import demands of the leading countries in our exports. While going through such a period, we need new incentives to support our exports. We had the biggest problem with employment after the earthquake, and we still do. Regulations need to be made to make the earthquake zone attractive for personnel. The return of income tax and insurance premiums deducted from personnel to them will be beneficial in this regard. Unfortunately, our problems are growing due to difficulties in accessing finance and high credit costs. However, overcoming exchange rate pressures and bilateral exchange rate issues is one of our expectations. Despite our problems, we will continue to produce, export, and provide employment under any circumstances. After the completed elections and the new cabinet formed, we hope that a new period will begin where the business world is listened to more and solutions are produced."
